I have to extend my family kitas for the first time. Can anyone please tell me how many days before i have to go to immigration from the expiry of my kitas and also when I can apply for the Kitap ? I read somewhere that after 2 years of marriage i can apply for it but some say that you must have kitas for the 3 consecutive years.

Yes, when married to a WNI-spouse longer than 2 years, one can apply for a KITAP-spouse, right away after 1 year on a KITAS-spouse.

We applied for Kitap after the first year of Kitas and there was no problem.

Everyone keeps saying a person has to have an Indonesian wife/husband, but it's not true. What people need is an experienced agent, and all the proper documents, and they can receive the Kitas. I will automatically qualify to upgrade to the Kitap, after having the Kitas five years, and I am single.

Reading seems to be an art. 🙄 Everybody says that here since the OP stated to be on a ‘family KITAS’. Of course you can get a retirement, investment or work related KITAS also.

That is certainly not true, as there are other routes available besides spouse-sponsored ITAS, such as through investments, retirement, global talents, descendants, etc.

For foreigners without an Indonesian spouse, the new VITAS requirements for the retirement visa have become more demanding. Nowadays, non ex-Indonesian citizens wishing to retire in Indonesia must deposit at least US$50k in an Indonesian state-owned bank, along with proof of income or benefits with a minimum value of US$3,000 per month. This will grant them ITAS for five years, which is renewable.

If they want to avoid the US$50k deposit, they will need to use a guarantor, typically an agent. However, they will still need to provide proof of income or benefits of at least US$3,000. This option only grants a one-year ITAS, meaning they will be depending on the agent and pay the associated fees for annual extensions.
