Hey all

My wife and I are in need of recommendations for visa agents in Bandung that can help with getting a KITAS. We've had a few messages already from agents prospecting us but I'd like to hear from the people on this forum if they have any recommendations of their own. Also, would like to hear a few estimates on how much this will cost?

To give you all the details, I'm currently on a B211A visa and, according to the lady at Kantor Imigrasi Bandung, I can only get two more 30-day extensions on it. She says I should have no problem converting this into a Telax visa and from that to a KITAS. However, the problem is that I don't have the required US$1,500 in my bank acc to get a Telax. I'm a freelancer that lives from one payment to the next and can't possibly save that much in so short an amount of time. I'm told that if you pay an agent they can do it all for you. Our most recent quote was about 11 million RPH (which includes the agent's fee and everything extra).

If anyone has any experience of using an agent to get a KITAS I would also like to hear from you.

The agent I used years ago is out of the business, I believe. They were a contact from the ex-in-laws anyway. I will say that the use of said agent did not really save me a lot of time and effort. I still had to make trips to the immigration office. They even managed to copy my paperwork wrong (I've had the same problem when I used an agent for other stuff... I wouldn't think my name would be that hard to spell and how do you get eye color wrong with a photo attached to the top of the paper?).

Assuming that you just need to show the money in your account for a limited amount of time, wouldn't it be alright to borrow a bit from a family member or something? You are paying $780 for a $150 visa. The amount you are overpaying is almost the same as the amount you are missing...

Sorry I can't offer any concrete help, but I've really found it to be worth the effort to do my own immigration paperwork. It might seem daunting, but it is doable (assuming you can find a (legal) way to show them an appropriate bank account).

I was thinking of that but as I understand it, the money has to be in your account for a period of time before you apply. If the exact amount just magically appears in your account a day before applying then they won't accept that. I'm hoping though that someone here can confirm or deny if that is the case?

In any case, your agent experience is already giving me second thoughts on whether this is the best move or not

I & my hubby have always processed our own visas, & to date I have never been asked to show any bank details- however things have changed as you know with immigration & they ask for such things now.
Can't you say it was in a foreign bank acct & that you just transferred it over here or that you cashed in some stocks & shares/ Bitcoin or something?

I agree with Happyman regarding using an agent. It would be my last option.

Bad_azz,
Original retirement visas (KITAS) in 2017 and the 2 next extensions was never asked about money in a local bank. Just justifying an income of mini 1500 usd / month (bank location can be overseas) as.per retirement visa regulations, but for the 3rd extension, 1 month ago, I was advised it would be good to show I have some money in a local bank account.
So I opened an account at HSBC (I am already HSBC customer in HKG), put 50 Juta in it.
Let's say it will be my emergency fund...

Now, had the required sum been 500 M, then maybe I would have thought twice...

Thank you Bad_azz, I was hoping you would give me your thoughts on this. I'll discuss it with my wife but I'm leaning now towards getting it done myself and getting a short loan from family in case they ask for a bank statement

If your a freelance worker then every so often your gonna receive a random cheque are you not ? So that’s easily explainable. Just ask a family member to transfer a few k dollar.

My Bandung agent is pretty good for my work KITAS. I can see if I can dig out the number.

My agent covers Jakarta but she actually lives in Bekasi if that helps at all? Outside of Kuningan I don't really know Geography much of where places are

The only time I was asked to show any funds was back in 2015 for the social buda visa. Since then, nothing.
