Jakarta bans gatherings of more than 5 people

From tomorrow the malls closed as well. Only supermarkets and essential store can stay open

Wife and I went on our weekly grocery run. Supermarket is located in a mall. While it is my understanding the president said everyone in the nation must be wearing a mask or covering of some type. Our Mayor here put out word that face mask are required to be worn by anyone in public areas. Looking around, probably close to 10% of customers and employees we seen, had no mask or were wearing around their neck. In the grocery store I pointed directly at any employee not wearing their mask and told them to get it on. I came across the Store manager who knows quite well who I am since we have been customers since they opened their doors, and pointed right at him who was wearing a mask and told him to get his shit together and manage his people. I did point at a few customers but they just did the deer in the headlight stare.

Evidently, due to so many places being closed now, everyone is heading to the malls here. Many are carrying no bags or anything. Just walking around. Still in groups and mist irritating was one group of women, 6 strong, 4 with mask who were all dressed in their drab brown gov uniforms.

Maybe they need to get serious about enforcement. Fine store managers for each employee not wearing a mask. Post at every entrance, no mask, no enter. If someone enters without they get escorted out. Pretty simple.

A large amount of people are just stupid. Why do they think they do not have to follow the rules that are meant to not just protect others, but also themselves. Why do they think that when one is looking at sonething on a shelf they can put half their body directly in front of, touching you, so they can see something? Maybe they are like my SIL here. It is up to Allah so nothing needs to be changed. Bull shit.
Quite the contrast for us- we were directed to a newly installed tap, sink & soap at the entrance to our local Giant supermarket. No entry permitted until we had washed our hands... no paper towels provided so I just wiped mine down my trousers lol- exercise in futility.
I then put hand gel on them , at least that evaporates quickly, I also splodged some on the tap too.
markings on the floor in the store at a metre apart- great except we know that 3 metres is likely the more effective distance.
Our local cafe is brilliant- they are open for take-out & grab/gofood
all their chairs are lined up 2 metres apart and we must take a seat- then when our turn to order we go to a plastic sheeted hatch and place the order- then back to designated seat, staff all in masks and gloves- counter staff segregated from food production staff... and the minute we collect our order and leave, the seat gets disinfected from top to bottom. No one is permitted inside, all transactions take place in the canopy area outside.
I felt super proud of how they are performing on this compared with some places.

If you are heading out tomorrow in Jakarta there are new transportation rules to bear in mind.

1. In a sedan only the driver may sit in the front with one passenger in the back.

2. If the vehicle is a jeep, SUV or minibus then one driver in the front, two passengers in the middle seat (left and right) and one in the back.

3. Motorcyclists are not allowed to carry passengers

4. Passengers on public transport must not exceed 50% of the vehicle's capacity.

Everyone must wear a mask

What they really need to do is say don't share a vehicle with anyone who doesn't live in your home. If you live in the same home, it likely makes no difference if there is 2, 3, or 5 passengers in a sedan.

Or are those rules only for public transport like taksi and go-car?

Lol and where did you see this?

All over the media.
Do you have a specific link? The part which is most curious is where it says, "Motorcyclists are not allowed to carry passengers "...
Hiring an ojek (now the eponymous Go-Jek) is a major part of everyday life in JaBoDeTaBek; if this is banned, it is a major change.

This part is true. That's the whole point. How can you be apart if you're hugging the rider.

But some of his other claims seems farfetched. And ive seen the office Government statement that's why I'm asking where he got HIS info because it differs from official sources.

Particularly about where to sit in a private car

But yes from tomorrow Ojek only for food deliveries.

Offices etc have to close. Till 24th.

It seems as though three people are allowed in a sedan but other than that it's as I said earlier.

Let's hope there are not 3 other people on the train with you then. Or the bus.

I wish people would use their common sense more. And since most grocery stores have security etc I am pretty sure if it was super crowded inside they would say to wait outside for a few minutes. And yes it is pretty obvious.

Here in Bangkok some shops have a sign and a person at the door. No more than 12 customers.

There you go. Hot of the press.

18.6 specifically mentions gojeks etc are only allowed to deliver items.

It arguably does not mention limitation on private motorbikes with passengers, although this was mentioned by the governor in his speech..

Lucky the virus doesn't move sideways then. So I can sit at the back and cough forwards but not next to the driver and cough out the window

Private cars are specially mentioned to only be allowed passengers up to 50% of their design capacity.
