The Brits also brought plenty good things..
Look at SGP, HKG, Malaysia, India...
Brits instaured a rule of law, education, infrastucture, etc...
The problem with is when they grant independance and leave. From that instant the ex-colony is 100% on its own, not to say abandonned and the Brits didn't give a sh*t about the consequences.
Take India, when the Brits left followed years of chaos, killings, massive people displacement, due to the Hindu, Muslims and Sihks could not stand eavh other.
Same for Palestine (not a colony, but a protectorate), complete chaos between Jews and Muslimswhen the Brits left. And it still continues.

I think that if the Dutch still would have a certain say in Indonesia (for example: if Indonesia were a kind of municipality of the Netherlands), that Indonesia would now be a fourth economic world force.
The Dutch made a mistake when Soekarno declared independence and went to war with Indonesia.
