Hello everyone,

I don't know if this is relevant for you guys but we're organising Indonesia’s first Testathons (a hackathon for testers) with the Facebook team in Jakarta on Saturday 21st of January and Bandung on Sunday 22nd of January: www.testathon.co

We're flying in from the UK and the Facebook team will be flying in from the USA.

On the day we'll have 50 of the best testers competing to win some amazing prizes (phones, tablets, headphones, etc). It's a great opportunity for testers to network with each other and learn from best practice.

It's completely free to attend and we take applications through the website.

Here's a recent Testathon we ran in South Africa: https://youtu.be/RGHx-pEtTfI

Do you think this would be relevant for your community? We’d also love to promote you guys as a media partner.

why would anyone name anything a testathon?
Are you for real or some spammer, I am loathe to click on your links, cos not a word you said made sense.
Sorry in advance if you are genuine and actually are speaking about things that exist... also yep- be sure you have the correct visa & work permist or you will be in the shit.

ah... testing apps- why not just say so - lol
How can testing something be a competition?
So many questions...

is the answer 42?

The rules for this sort of events are much more relaxed nowadays. Nothing to be worried about.

Facebook, for instance, offers a $10,000 bounty on bugs that pose a security risk.

A testing competition doesn't seem like such a stretch. It's a good way to find bugs on unreleased versions of apps in a shirt amount of time.

Sunday.... Bandung..... I hope they will get to the place where the competition will be on time or they may hear..... "and the reward goes too.... and thank you all for coming".

ElG remember I am old school lol... If I don't ask I don't learn... testathon just sounds cheesy tho :D

Hi everyone,

The event is definitely genuine, i'm sorry if i came across as spam:)

Hackathons (which are designed only for programmers and not testers) are definitely more popular than Testathons at this point but we definitely intend to change that. This is one of the points of these events as there aren't manny competitions/social events of this size for testers, only programmers.

If you want to see how other events went, have a look at the videos below:

Chapter 2: Sweden - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt39KucH5VA

Chapter 4: Romania - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9cy6aI9VMs

The aim is to bring the very best testers together to 1. learn best practice 2. connect and network together and 3. win prizes by doing what everyone loves.

Hope i managed to clarify all your questions and that we'll see you all in Jakarta/Bandung for a bit of fun :)

P.S. thank you for the tip on the Visas!

Best,

Ruxandra @ Testathon
