I moved my car down to Bali from Jakarta in November by car transporter,.. have left it on B plate as the cost to transfer to Bali plate DK is over 20 juta,.. cost of transporter 6.5 juta.. this is my 3rd B plate in Bali and just get an agent in Jkt to renew STNK every year,.. trying to seel cars here even before the COVId was hard so when you want to change just ship back to Jakarta as I did with one and sold in 3 days,... unlike other cities and provinces the Police never bother you if you have an outside plate,..I am an ex Indo expat (10 yrs in JKT) now planning to retire to Bali under a retirement KITAS. Hoping that someone out there could advise if it is possible for me to bring my "customised" car to Bali or any options that may be open.
To clarify, I am currently in Australia, in the process of selling our business with plan to move to Bali mid this year.I moved my car down to Bali from Jakarta in November by car transporter,.. have left it on B plate as the cost to transfer to Bali plate DK is over 20 juta,.. cost of transporter 6.5 juta.. this is my 3rd B plate in Bali and just get an agent in Jkt to renew STNK every year,.. trying to seel cars here even before the COVId was hard so when you want to change just ship back to Jakarta as I did with one and sold in 3 days,... unlike other cities and provinces the Police never bother you if you have an outside plate,..
Sorry I misunderstood your initial post,..it is possible of course but many loops to jump thru,.. suggest you contact a company called David Bali Cargo, (Google them for contact details) ,.. they have imported a lot of stuff for me in the past and are reliable and efficient,... will probably y cost you an arm and leg though as import taxes and duties are very high here on imported cars,.. especially anything 3,000 cc or over,.. chèersTo clarify, I am currently in Australia, in the process of selling our business with plan to move to Bali mid this year.

Thanks Balikbob, Spent a great deal of time (and money) in customsing the car otherwise would not bother. It is only 1,600cc. If cost is exorbitant might just leave here in Aus to use when i come back to visit family.Sorry I misunderstood your initial post,..it is possible of course but many loops to jump thru,.. suggest you contact a company called David Bali Cargo, (Google them for contact details) ,.. they have imported a lot of stuff for me in the past and are reliable and efficient,... will probably y cost you an arm and leg though as import taxes and duties are very high here on imported cars,.. especially anything 3,000 cc or over,.. chèers
Thanks, will investigate this option. You cannot import a second-hand car and register with Indonesian plates. You could, however, theoretically, temporarily import the car under Australian register plates. You would have a CPD Carnet and what goes with it.

Quoted in 2015 . Import tax/duty 300% of market value of the vehicle plus various other costs . I had a 1995 Toyota Landcruiser . Market value was $18,000 at the time x 300% . $54,000 !!!
Classed as a luxury item ! Anything with a motor over 4litres is twice as much again ! Make sure you go over anything with a fine toothed comb and a magnet , I looked at buying a Kombi , immaculate , until the magnet wouldn't stick in all the known rust spots . Full of bog , there masters with !!Thanks Nicho, looks like a futile exercise. Will have to leave my "toy" behind in Aus and look for another car "project" while I'm there!!!
Hi Nicho, Ahh the famous Ketok Magic. Gave up working with "muscle" cars when I sold my 1977 Ford Fairmont GS with a bored out Cleveland 351. Now into "tweaking" and customising under 2 Ltrs. The toy I was hoping to bring to Bali is a 2019 MG3 Excite with standard engine tweaked giving an output of 145 BHP. So something similar will keep me occupied, for a while!Classed as a luxury item ! Hi. I'm new to this forum, but I saw your post and thought I could give you some advice. I think it's possible to bring your customized car to Bali, but it might be a bit of a hassle. One option is to sell your car in Jakarta and buy a new one in Bali. That way, you won't have to worry about shipping costs or any customs issues. Plus, you'll have a car that's already registered in Bali, which will save you some time and paperwork.
One option is to break up with your fiancé in Jakarta and get a new one in Bali. That way, you won't have to worry about visa costs or any immigration issues. Plus, you'll have a spouse that's already registered in Bali, which will save you some time and paperwork.
Don't forget .. to be nice to newbies ..That's very helpful. I'm sure he will be very grateful for your advice.
There's a whole thread on getting married overseas. I'd like your advice there?
Oh don't bring your fiance from Europe and get married in Bali.
Just find a new one in Jakarta and marry her
