The Indonesian immigration office has recently announced 3 more innovations as it pushes further into the digital age. The innovations are designed to further ease the process of passport application. The process has long been a source of complaints from Indonesians who have to navigate agents, long queues, low daily quotas and complicated requirements.

To improve the quality of passport services, Immigration has done the following:

1) Launched an Android based application, Online Passport Queue Application. Available at the Google Play Store, this app provides convenience to passport applicants so they do not need to queue at the Immigration Office.

2) If you don't feel like downloading another app, you can also now use WhatsApp to get a queue number. The WhatsApp Gateway Service (WAGS) will connect immigration officers and passport applicants regarding the passport issuance process, notifying the applicant that the passport has been completed.

To get a queue number at the Central Jakarta Immigration office, an applicant can send a message to cellular number 0812-9900-4406 with the format #Name#date of birth (date-month-year)#date of visit(date-month-year), for example, #BUDI#25011987#14072017. They will get a reply message telling them when to turn up.

3) The requirements for replacement passports have been significantly simplified, by only requiring an identity card and an old passport. Passport replacement will be completed within 1 (one) day since the payment is made.

Well last time my wife was waiting around 2 hrs JUST to take out only queue ticket (passport replacement) and she was 180 for 200 max applicants per day. Then you have to wait to give documents. Then another long wait for photo. We have left imigration 16:00. Now the best: she applied on line to "speed up the process".

I hope what is said above will improve their service because personally I think it sucks big time.
