Not sure how much I can help, but I won't let that stop me. I have two kinds of comments: linguistic comments, such as I can provide given my less-than-amazing translating skills, and busybody comments, which I'm super good at. Here goes:

LINGUISTIC: that looks like a Javanese speaker wrote it. Have you tried Google Translate using Javanese to English:

Remove those photos carefully to replace them. Horeng so, nice in front of doang, in the back I hate and ho

...in addition to Indonesian to English:

Remove the photo eta watch out but replace it. Horeng like that, good at hareupeun only, at mah hate na ho.

If you have context for what you are trying to translate, I assume that's enough to give you a good idea of what it's all about. Sounds to me like someone regrets a bit of sexting and is asking the recipient to delete the photo because they are unhappy with how their ass looks. Or something.

BUSYBODY: I know nothing about you, you haven't shared any personal information or context with us, and therefore I have no right to assume anything. However, if I were to overstep my bounds and make some assumptions anyway (news flash: I'm about to), your post kind of reminds me of previous situations where a suspicious non-Indonesian boyfriend/girlfriend started snooping in their partner's text messages to see if they were not being honest in the relationship.

If - big IF - that's what is going on here, stop it right now! Talk to the individual in question, don't surreptitiously read their phone messages. (Of course, if you were the recipient of the text, my comments are totally off base and I apologize.)

You are the only one who can provide context ... we here on the internet know nothing about the situation. Was it a text message sent on a digital device, like a WA text on a phone? Who was message from/to? Were there photos involved? What is the relationship between the sender and the receiver? Are you the recipient?

That's the context that will help decipher the info. On the other hand, you could (and probably should) just ask the sender what they meant by what they wrote.

You are right, I probably should ask that person.

Really appreciate your help and guidance.

It's Sundanese...not Javanese....

Not 100% but I think here's my attempt at choppy translation (combination of google and my 10 word sundanese knowledge):
Hapus eta fhoto "Delete that photo...(awas i think mean clearly...ganti means replaced...but I can't make sense of the sentence). .

Horeng Kitu bagus di harepeun doang (Live itself is only good in front)

Di tukang mah hate na ho..(Behind...the heart is.....not sure what ho means..but it can't be good in my opinion...or at least that person ain't talkin' bout Santa's ho ho ho).

Quite confusing since 'tukang' in Indonesian means handyman...but in Sundanese I guess it means 'back' (behind?). Hate is heart (kinda makes sense since it's 'hati' in Indonesian).

Thanks for trying to explain. This sentence was added as a whatsapp status message. I felt it was meant for me for some reason. But from what I gathered, it looks like this msg is just an expression to someone's feeling in general (I hope)!

The person is from west Java, so most probably Sundanese, I think.

I hope these whatsapp msges stop at this point and no more suspecious msges posted tomorrow!

My Sundanese hubby says:
Delete that photo it is so awful, to my face you are nice but behind my back you are horrid, basically is the message (we believe Goreng not Horeng- goreng in Sunda= ugly/bad) He says this is what it is in Indonesian:

Hapus foto itu sangat buruk, di depan wajah saya kamu baik tetapi di belakang saya kamu jelek.

Thanks, this translation seems to be the most accurate. I was looking for the meaning of the msg rather than the exact word to word translation.

Hah hah - apparently I can't tell the difference ::rofl:: Matar nuwun (about the only Javanese I know, and I don't even know what level that is).
Matur Nuwun is pretty standard Javanese....and useful!!

I am told na ho - is most likely nya ho- & that is "I know"
But the tone is less than polite- someone is pissed off with someone.

I like these little posts, they make me apply myself to the Sunda learning that I very much neglect.
