i was looking for flights from Bandung using Google Flights, and noticed it said there were nonstops to Jakarta.

I'd never seen any before, so clicked on it. Seems Wings is flying their ATR42 planes once a day from Halim.

I've flown these between Denpasar and Lombok before. Not fashionable in any way, but at 275k, maybe better than being stuck in Friday traffic to BDO. Maybe...

Anyone flown this?

Thanks for the heads up, JC. We might give it a try during out next summer visit. Halin is close to the house, but where does the flight terminate in Bandung?

There's only the normal Bandung airport as far as I know.

OK, I had an appointment today near to this airport- my flight was booked & due to leave at 9:35...
on arrival at the check-in desk I saw it had been changed to 11 o'clock... I was a bit pissed off as my appointment was for 11:00.
I managed to reschedule my appointment to 12:30... and then the flight got changed to 11:20...
and then to "delayed" - no kidding it was delayed. I eventually went to to talk with the gate staff at 11:50 & found out that the flight was still in Bali, was due to go from there to Medan & then another 2 hours flight to Bandung... I cancelled my appointment & went down to the LionAir CS desk ... and miraculously was given a cash refund, not just for that flight but for the one I had booked to get back to Bdg at 1:15. The staff told me it was the same plane so the delay would have a knock on effect.
I finally got away from the airport at 12:15, & glanced up at the board for the flight- the estimated departure time was for 13:20... I doubt it made it.
So- I won't bother doing that again.

Yep, indeed KW

I suppose I should have been more specific: Wings Air. However same same group, just different name & they are the only option that I can find.

Mod note - I've deleted, at least temporarily, a bit of bickering, until the Mod Squad can discuss. (Post deletion is a heavy-handed approach we strive to avoid here, but I don't want things to escalate). Meanwhile I would advise against provoking other posters unnecessarily and responding to provocation. Why spoil a perfectly good thread?

I realize that, just being facetious. Lion air should be called Lying air....

Wings Air is a commuter scheduled service airline owned by Lion Air. Batik Air is a full-service airline owned by Lion Air. Lion Air is the parent company and operates a 'low-cost' airline service.

from Wiki....'Wings Air previously used the slogan "Fly is Cheap", subsequently changed to "Flying is Cheap". The former version of the slogan received considerable attention for the English grammatical mistake, which might be interpreted as a suggestion that the airline provides a poor quality service, rather than the intended meaning that its fares are inexpensive.'
I guess you get what you pay for.

My wife returns from KL to Bali tomorrow on Batik Air...her first flight with them. I'll let members know of her experience with them.

Wive's friend just tried to get from Bandung to Jakarta via train.... train is delayed since 8:00 am "due to landslide". It was 13:00 when she talked to us and it seems that she is still waiting.

So no plane, no train what else is left?

... I just checked and there are still some seats available on the 4:15 this afternoon.

Not having dependable service is going to kill any success this route could have.

Another late arrival on a post.

Have flown Wings on their Italian turboprops a few times (mainly Denpasar to Malang). Not a single flight has left on time - the average delay being about 90 mins. Even when first flight of the plane that day!

If just visiting/ touring, etc and have understanding friends/ driver waiting for you the other end, this is fine.

If appointments and deadlines like Bad_azz, I also would be very leery of relying on them.

You also have very limited luggage on a lot of their flights (10kgs when I flew them).

The weaving between thunderheads at about 16,000 feet max altitude is interesting (used to it from Oz country flights on puddle jumpers).

Others were not as lucky and looked at their lunch again.

I now go via jet to Surabaya as the distance to my lady's family is a bit further, but so much less hassle (thank you Surabaya toll roads :pray2:).
