German man arrested over Bali meth lab

A German man has been arrested on Indonesia's Bali island for allegedly making crystal methamphetamine in a secret lab, officials said Thursday, with authorities seizing bags of powders and bottles used to produce the drug.

The 35-year-old German, his Indonesian partner - a transgender woman - and two Indonesian men were detained on Monday, accused of making crystal meth together, the anti-drugs agency said.

The group could face up to 15 years in jail if found guilty of producing and using the substance, the agency said, but the suspects look likely to avoid the death penalty as they had so far made only a small quantity.

Just 10 grams of the drug was seized when they were arrested.

Authorities suspect it was mostly for personal consumption, with just a small amount sold to others on Bali.

They are very lucky to be looking at just 15 years. After all there is a French guy presently awaiting execution who happened to be sent by his company to repair a specialized piece of HVAC equipment in a facility that just happened to be a meth lab. He was repairing it when the police raided the place and being a big bad honkey was named as the ringleader of the operation, hence the death sentence.

The Screams of the French embassy as usual fell on deaf ears and all his chances of a pardon or reprieve have been so far rejected.

For me personally it is hard to believe there were only 10 grams in a LAB?

There is lab and LAB, smallworld like there are breweries operating as factories and producing hundreds of hectolitre of alkohol per day and pop and mom's homemade brewery which brew a liter of cider whenever mom's comes back with apples from the market.
