I haven´t fly domestically in Indonesia for already so many years, please with your help and recomendations I would like to catch up about local airlines companies.
I would like to fly to a place and Lions Air is in one of the trajects, I remember many years ago Lion Air was one of the wors companies.
Any experiences to share?
Have a nice weekend

June last year we traveled to Manado from jakarta with Batik air (Lion air group).
On departing to Manado, the flight returned to Jakarta after 40 minutes due to technical problem; flight resumed after 1.5 hours, landed in Manado 4 hours delayed after initial schedule.
Return flight to Jakarta a week later: After waiting 8 hours, the flight was canceled and rescheduled next day.

These threads always end up as examples for the “you talk about a good experience with one person only, and about a bad experience with ten people”. Same goes for car workshops, restaurants, etc.

Personally I have a very good experience with Batik Air and Lion. And flying with Citilink from Halim was hell. But that doesn’t mean a lot.

We took Transnusa from Yogyakarta to Jakarta last December. It was ok. No delay and very attentive ground crew and flight attendants because we had my sickly and elderly mother with us.

Garuda, Citilink, and AirAsia have the best maintenance. Punctuality is a relative thing.

You can take a look at the flight history for the carriers on the route you want to fly by putting in the flight number- It will show up at least the past several days -
if one carrier shows up as delayed on several flights when all the others don't then you can get a good idea of what carrier you might want to avoid.
I believe it is not lawful for us to criticize publicly online any business- so I can only say that one specific carrier is the only domestic carrier that I have had massive delays with and specifically only one branch of their umbrella company that may (or may not) have a big cat logo.
I hope that helps- if you can read between the lines ;) )

The gate of Transnusa is jaaaaauuuuh ...

I have flown Lion/ City link/ Air asia lately locally and all of them have changed my flight times, mostly its no big deal - a move 2 hours here or there but it sure makes me wary about ever using a local company with any connecting flights not booked on the same ticket. This seems to be happening everywhere now (not just indo) - a hangover of the covid era - hopefully they will settle down eventually.
I don't concern myself with flight safety with any of the airlines. Statistically I am safer taking a flight than driving around Jakarta in a taxi (something I do daily).

Just used Batik Air from Batam to Jakarta. The service was ok, we have one person with a wheelchair. They were on time, arrived on time and everything went smooth. So a positive experience, let's see how the return flight turns out.

You guys fly a lot with different airlines, right? Walking styles are spot on ... ?

Yeah, United is spot on. If not because they usually have the lowest rate from USA, I would have picked a different airline. Even with their cheap price, I’m this close of moving away. Customer service? What customer service?

I have plenty of stories about US flight attendants from over the years. and this isn't even getting into the airlines customer service which has been going downhill since the mid 80s. Despite my Dad being a pilot for American, I always try to take JAL straight through if I can.

Also did anyone else see this about Garuda ?

Always try to book my flights to the US with an Asian airline. Was unlucky once and got a code share from Japan to the US with an American plane and crew. Knew when I boarded that it was going to bad and it was.

United codeshares with ANA, which is terrific. I thank my lucky stars whenever my United flight is served by ANA. My only problem with ANA is their goddamned pervasive jingle.

Oh gawd, just mentioning it put the jingle in my ears again. I’m fucked.

I honestly can't remember the jingle - it's been several years, and the last times I headed to Asia have been direct to Singapore so sadly no ANA code share. I fondly remember them putting on kimonos for food service though.
