Fair and peaceful campaigning?

They were there....

Both parties are convinced today's court session went extremely well and that they will win the case.

To be continued on Tuesday...

As last time, they bombard the Court with 'proof', which is -as last time- no more than trucks and trucks filled with results from voting stations.

Obviously nobody will go through all that stuff, esp. since there's only a three week window for the process.

But now they can say afterwards: You see? We provided proof but it was never looked at and investigated.

The Prabowo team wants to present 30 witnesses, of which 25 eyewitnesses and 5 experts. But, the rules state there should be no more than 15 eyewitnesses and 2 experts, So that was a big njet.

Also, the witness protection ? was refused. And evidence should be presented before the session tomorrow, which might be an issue for those 25 trucks with 'evidence'.

A monster session from 9 AM to 5 AM.

Witnesses who are not unspoken and the crème de la crème of society (like the IT guy who is used by the FPI quite often and who got stabbed a year ago since he was 'proving' Rizieq did not have an affair, or the guy who did not look at the judge and then declared he had to pee, someone who had no political affiliation whatsoever but Gerindra provided him with voting lists of Bogor where he found thousands of fake persons which he could identify by the NIK's, a lady from a kampung who declared 12 of the 110 votes were done by KPU staff, ....)

This is one big joke.

Any possibility of some of these witnesses being charged with perjury?
Costing huge amounts of money to examine baseless "evidence."

Today a rather short session.

The topic was IT and the system used by the KPU. Jaswar Koto, who was called upon as expert witness, and who seems to be a professor computer programming and development in Japan, stated there have been consistent flaws in input. He mentioned 63 polling stations. Now, I wonder why you would need an IT expert to talk about inconsistent input? If there are mistakes made, that is very easy to check, but nobody seems to be able to show that proof, we are just supposed to take the word of a guy nobody ever heard of?

Talking about IT guys, another 'expert', Soegianto Soelistiono, claims he had developed a.....ahem robot ? Which analyzed the results and found major discrepancies. I guess he means he downloaded the KPU data to his Excel sheet?! Anyway, he claims team Prabowo dropped during the Ramadan period with 107.000 votes. If there is a daily count like we have seen from the KPU, it makes you wonder how somebody can state this while nobody else of all these thousands of spectators noticed? ?

Also, the architect of the security and backup was interrogated. He did not want to make any statements about input of course, but the access and security was optimal (three servers with constant backups) and unauthorized personnel did not have any access during all this time. [sic]

With one incompetent and weird Pinokkio following the other in the witness stand, Prabowo has left for Europe again. There must be some medical issue since he went back to Germany for check-up and/or treatment.

There are already demonstrators present. The Constitutional Court will make their decision known tomorrow.

Of course the news around Vanessa Angel is much more important in the local press. She got 5 months jail time, they couldn't prove prostitution so they kept it on spreading pornography (a WA with some spicy pics to a friend).

What is of course much more important than corrupt and incompetent police officers blundering and possible fraud at presidential election results is the case with Fairuz Fariq. (Nice first name, by the way, you really pronounce it as 'virus'.)

Virus is the daughter of a famous dangdut singer, she's divorced. And now her ex stated in a YouTube interview that he broke up with her at the time because she smelled weird 'down under'. Really.

So that is a big deal and everyone (including Paris Hotman) has their say. Of course stupid to use such a dad joke on your ex in an interview but I find it even more appalling that it gets so much attention.

Anyway, more MK news tomorrow....

They emptied some Pesantren (Islamic schools) to get to their numbers.

Release Ben Smith? Really? (The punishment requested will be 7 years.)

I must have missed something in the thread.....can you explain what you are talking about?

No problem.

Mr. Smith, originally from Manado (which is already somewhat weird) has been one of the more fanatic players in the Rizieq (and thus Prabowo) camp.

He is accused of beating up two minors.

No, today.

There's a bit of a mixup between MA and MK. The Supreme Court did not agree with a separate claim. And now, so Thursday, the Constitutional Court also rejected the claimed victory by Prabowo & Sandiaga.

So, legally speaking, it is over....

OPA Rais is visiting Prabowo as we speak. Amien 'people power' won't be happy, since the same as 5 years ago is about to happen; his party PAN will join Jokowi.

Memotong kerugian.

Umm, this is seriously time for celebration. The "caliphate" crowd is toast. Modernity has defeated fundamentalism / authoritarianism. The rakyat have spoken, and they have rejected Prabowo's incendiary rhetoric. (Note: Jokowi still must respect the constitution; if he tries to eliminate term limits in order to extend his presidency past 2024, that will be the end of Indonesian democracy)

Whoa-whoa....I would back up a bit before celebrating "Modernity has defeated fundamentalism / authoritarianism"....

This election was a choice between bad, and really bad. As much as I prefer Jokowi to win over Prabowo, I don't see much reason to rejoice:

1. Jokowi is becoming more authoritarian. Whether out of his own will, or his underlings, silencing political opponents and critics are on the rise.
2. Jokowi's win was in very large part due to capturing rural, conservative Muslim voters in Central and East Java.
3. Jokowi's vice president is a political opportunist and conservative cleric (in that order), who is behind many troubling fatwa's, including those against Ahok, calling for death penalty for same sex relation, and marginalizing religious minorities.
