I wondered if anybody on here is a collector of anything ?
Like stamps, local art, butterflies, flowers ...
Or souvenirs about past family, ones life history, travels etc ?

Personally I have a modest (100 / 220) car / trucks models collection, mainly French models of the 50 to 70's to remember the days where cars all looked different.
And concerning personal stuff, plenty family pictures over 3 generations, plenty of my travels.
And I have 2 trunks in the ex house in BKK which will go to my kids.

Since we lived more than 2 decades outside Indonesia and travelling a lot, we usually purchased some memorabilia, from fridge magnets to Persian carpets, nothing very specifics - few of them:

and and in the last one year, I have been quite busy taking care of around 300 pots of succulents, cacti and adeniums - as well as hundreds of other ornamental plants including various types of hibiscus, bougainvilleas, and miana (coleus).
Last week, the natural pond was also just finished; including planting 2 large frangipani trees, amazon bananas (Typhonodorum lindleyanum) and forest giant ferns (Angiopteris evecta). Currently still waiting for the koi fish from Blitar to arrive on this thursday.

Sword brought back from Syria by my grandfather early 1900's when Syria was a French protectorate and he did a (military) campaign there.

Plus hundreds of slides (diapositives).
Indeed in the 70's and 80's developping color pictures was expensive. Slides were cheap, it allowed us to take plenty pics, develop them as slides, and select the few best ones to develop as color picture.

My son is coming over from Thailand this Saturday and he will bring lots of them + a Kodak slide scanner to transform them in JPG format.
I will then select some to develop as paper pictures.

Nice flowers.
I never had a "green hand" like we say in France.
I don't have the patience, same goes for fishing.

I have some old banknotes also, collected during my travels.
Sadly lost (?) one album with notes from Irak and Iran 🥲🥲🥲

honestly, I knew nothing about gardening; but youtube help a lot.

very interesting to collect the foreign old bank notes; unfortunately was not in my head when we had the opportunity - or probably just not my passion.
I think that it started in my Navy days. After calling in different countries you're always left with some local money that is impossible to exchange. So one day I had the idea to "optimize" those "left overs" and make a collection. From then on, in every country I arranged to have the full range of available notes. Well, not the 500 € ones.....
I am not 100% sure about the VN notes, some were bought in "antique" shops in the 90's and they have a reputation of selling fake antiques. Same for antique watches, of which I have a few.

I always pick something up on my travels. Perhaps old currency, coins, hotel key cards, wooden keepsakes.
