Can anyone please advise the correct answer to my query.
I have a spouse sponsored KITAP (not a retirement KITAP.)
I live in Lampung , Sumatra but do not work in Indonesia any longer but sometimes work overseas.
I am told by the local BPJS office that I need a work permit to qualify for a the BPJS health cover.
Is this correct or is the regulation misunderstood by the local office ?

As far as I understand ,if you are on a married kitap you have access to bpjs .

Terry,

I am in a similar situation, and have had BPJS for over a year. No work permit needed.

I would suggest your spouse contact bpjs kesehatan wa customer service , they will confirm after 6 months residence on a married kitas / kitap you can apply for bpjs ,best of luck.

My experience with BPJS so far in Medan. Pre existing heart and prostate problems. Went to local health office, PUSKESMAS, they gave me a referral to BPJS hospital nearby. Have had apointments with specialists for heart and urology. Had CT scan and ultrasound. Given medication for both, similar to medication prescribed by Australian doctors, they do not issue expensive blood thinners so I buy them privately. Both specialist speak English, and appear to know their stuff. On given first lot of medication must come back the following week for follow up appt, then given months supply of tabs. All services and meds free. Bit of waiting around for appointments but not excessive. They do phone me appt reminders. The hospital is very clean, quite modern and thus far staff have been very helpful. So in short, for my A$8 per month I am not complaining.

He's done this and been told I'm not eligible because I don't work. I'm coming up to 14 years in Indonesia - 12 of those on a working kitas/spouse kitas and now in year 5 of my KITAP so time is definitely not the issue.

Someone in another forum mentioned BPJS might just be tightening up on non-workers because they are running a deficit.

Interesting.... I guess we'll have to go to the office and ask again.
