Bali deports expats

Not going to be easy, but 'bisa' .. the governor of Bali needs to come up with some policy or measure, that's why he is looking at Bhutan. My advice .. steal the good ideas. Maybe "visa khusus Bali (VKB)" .. extra "kerja untuk imigrasi" ...

That's really not doable given Bali's location and how many foreigners are there. It's not like Aceh or Papua at the ends of the country with very few foreigners to manage.
Anyway the governor will soon enough realize if he hasn't already that such a plan isn't feasible economically either. What would they do with all the empty plebian tourist infrastructure and the unemployed?
For years they've tried to boost tourist numbers, culture and environment be damned, to get the monero. There's way too much at stake financially to abruptly put up fences.

No way for VKB. Absolutely impossible. Visa is not under his authority. Bali is just a province in Indonesia. He is not in the position to refuse anybody with valid documents to enter the country.
He just want to get sympathy after ridiculous u20 statement to save his a*$

There are other measures he can impose .. like 'extra tourists tax' ... done already in many places (even in Holland). Not just "incoming tourist tax" for tourists coming arriving in Bali, but tax on every service in Bali. Staying in a hotel, tourists have to pay 'tourist tax' ... that's going to hurt people who can't afford it. The governor can even impose on other things, like 'tourist tax' in restaurants or taxis ... tourist attractions.

The governor better not read my posts ... it's a damn good idea .

His initial premise is clearly wrong. Before they started to promote tourism to richer individuals, back when it was mostly backpackers and movie stars there were no real problems. So following his logic you would have to say that richer tourists are the problem.

Not just airlines - so many job descriptions in Indonesia would be illegal in OECD countries. Specifying appearance, maximum age, marital status (eww)...

The most bizarre thing is when such job ads get posted in places that should advocate for a higher ethical standard ... like church bulletins (ok, not really that bizarre to my cynical half)

If you compare this with the norms and values that apply in the West, you would regard it a lot as discrimination. But I don't get the impression that Indonesians themselves often feel discriminated against by such job seekers, for example.
I think that many have a thick skin or they see it as the right of the employer, for example, to look for someone who he thinks fits within the organization.

On my laptop this week, which is controlled by my head office, there is a compulsory background picture about LGBT++ week, with pictures of various bencong etc. If a company here tried to do that and impose their beliefs on their staff it would create a huge problem. Just another example of the big cultural differences in approaches to the world of work.

Wow, which country / company? Here the most IT will do is pre deploy the standard wallpapers, up to you if you want to use them or something else (as long as you don't pick something against company policy)
