Anyone bought anything on Amazon recently? I just bought a wallet directly from a website in the US. Shipping cost was low and they sent it by post. It did take a month but the import duty was around 10% of the item cost.

I checked Amazon and shipping and duty estimate was 120% of the item cost. I know this is an estimate so I'm wondering did anyone get any money back from Amazon after paying this as it's clear they are rediculously over estimating the import duties?

I recently wanted to buy a book, and found the shipping and import duty were double the cost of the book. The book was $14.99 and the shipping and import duty was $27.00. Which almost triples the cost of the book. This defeats my desire to buy the book. Isn't there a break in the cost for literature?
