I am totally clueless when it comes to vpn and anything more technical than turning on my tv and cable box. My brother gave me an Amazon Fire Stick. Would it work here? I have a smart TV that is already connected to my First Media box. Will i need a vpn to use this? Thanks!

You are not the only one who is clueless, technologically speaking.

Whilst im not using a firestick I am using google chromecast and its fine. I also have an amazon prime membership and watch the Amazon tv stuff through there. Its ok but a bit limited selection. Im sure you can use the firestick without vpn for amazon prime and also for Netflix if you have accounts there. I haven't tried the Indonesian one (iflix) but im sure that works too and a quick google check shows a youtube video on how to do it

Its weird i pay for Netflix, Amazon prime as well as cable tv but still end up occasionally using the other grey area apps with a vpn. I just find that they have much better interfaces and everything is all in one place. Netflix for example is a pain to use and keeps moving my "continue watching" section. On the plus side you can switch from a tv to a tablet and continue watching in the same place

The fire stick should work fine without a VPN. Just go though the setup process.

I recently signed up for Netflix in Indonesia for the first month free deal, but canceled since telkomsel has it blocked. It was awesome btw. Worked on indosat fine.

I currently use a first gen chromecast from my android hotspot. Took some rigging but got it to work. Hotspot plus WiFi sharing did the trick.
