Affidavit or Renew (Child) Indo Passport?

Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has any experience on this matter. Before we move to Indonesia, we've sorted out both my son's Indonesian passport and affidavit (on foreign passport) at the overseas consulate. Few years had passed since we need to travel. Recently, his foreign passport was renewed (hence no more affidavit) and theIndonesian passport is about to expire soon too.

Since we are planning an overseas trip at the end of the year. I am wondering if it is easier to just get new affidavit on the new foreign passport or to renew his Indonesian Passports instead. Or do we need to do both? Since this is the first time for me, so no idea how simple/complex the processs would be like.

Anyone had any experience on this? any thoughts would be much appreciated, Thanks.

I don't know if it is different now as my son is 14 so we did his affidavit back in 2009, but it is good until he is 18. It is a card that we carry along with his foreign passport and hasn't changed even though he is on his 3rd foreign passport.

An affidavit is now a separate document that has to be made at the immigration office. There is a new format that came in a couple of years ago. I think the official price is 300k or 400k. Normally when getting a new Indonesian passport for a dual citizen child they will ask you to do it.

Thanks! I assume 'ask you to do it' means 'you have to do it'
I hope it can be processed at the same time and the same place as the Indo passport renewal since I am trying to avoid multiple trips to the immigration office.

Yes, it wasn't optional! It was done during the passport renewal process, and it's in the same building but on a different floor.

One more question, does the Indo passport renewal process depend on having the affidavit first or the other way around?

FYI: The Surat Keterangan Affidavits whch were issued to my kids earlier this year (2023) each have passport numbers on them. There are no indications of expiration dates.

We had one version of affidavit issued by overseas consulate in 2019 on a piece of paper (that also has no indication of expiration, but has passport numbers written on it).
Now with the newly renewed foreign passport, I'm wondering whether that document it is still valid.

We also had some previous affidavits and they told us we had to renew them in the new format and pay the fee, although maybe it depends on the immigration office.

When my son's passport was renewed, I had to send a letter to the immigration to that effect regarding his affidavit (we live in Indonesia), and they got him a new one.
Where did you first get his affidavit?
Honestly, we never renewed his indonesian passport. Just his affidavit.

No it is not. The affidavit card is attached to the passport. His dual nationality certificate, however, does not and it's valid until your child has to choose which nationality they want to take.
