Ads on the forum

Dear users,

Today we have implemented ads on the forum. Together with the sister website's ads, we are hoping that they will bring enough revenue to cover our operating expenses (spoiler: it's a very slow start).

They are displayed in various spots:
1. In the header (along side a more compact logo)
2. At the top and bottom of pages such as home page, forum list, thread list, new posts, what's new
3. After the first post of a thread page on every page
4. After the last post of a thread page on every page (if the thread has more than 4 posts)

Some of you may see these ads and some of you may not. The reason is simple:

User with more than 200 posts will not see any ads. This is a gesture to reward our long time and most active users.

If you'd still like to see what the ads look like, simply log out and browse the forum as a non-registered guest.

Please let us know if you find any bug with the ads.

No, the content of the website loads first, then the ads.

We're using the Google Adsense ad network which is the most widely used and is highly optimized. There are actually a number of loops to go through and rules to follow to ensure that the ads do not impact the user experience negatively. Google is quite strict about that.
