DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

I heard that the government "instructed" airlines to reduce the price of airfare. And today until Sunday are "holidays" to encourage people to travel and spend their money. I guess the government is giving up the fight against COVID-19, and just wait for the vaccine. Are we going to see a surge...

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

BPJS is already MANDATORY, but for permanent workers only. With the new Omnibus Law, more companies will hire temporary workers which are exempted from BPJS. How can you cover them with their 1 month or 3 months contracts anyway? The problem with BPJS is once a company registers, it is obliged...

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

For exporters, their competition is Sellers from another country e.g. Vietnam. Exporters from Indonesia cannot just raise their price due to higher labor costs, their Buyers will buy from Vietnam instead. So it's not so simple. Making a profit is necessary, otherwise, how can you pay your...

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

You are right, governors set the regional minimum wage and mayors/regents set their own. But the governors were just following the instructions of the central government regarding percentage of increase calculated based on national growth plus inflation. Now governors don't have to follow the...

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

For businesses, this Omnibus Law is worse than expected, now an employee can resign and ask for severance payment. For example, you hired a cook, and you trained him to make sushi. A year later, he said "Boss, I'm resigning, and I want my severance". You asked him why, and he said the Japanese...

    Questions regarding Covid-19 Vaccination

Dahlan Ishkan mentioned in his article published yesterday https://www.disway.id/r/1095/lari-duluan who will be prioritized to get the vaccine. He also explained that the government is buying both finished and semi-finished vaccines. Recommended reading but it's in Indonesian.

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

Exactly, now nobody would be hiring permanent workers. Before 2003, temporary workers were uncommon. Businesses actually prefer permanent workers because loyalty is good for business. How can we expect worker's loyalty and dedication if they are temporary workers?

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

Nobody would be hiring temporary workers if firing permanent workers is made as easy as hiring them. When I first arrived in Indonesia, I remember severance pay was 3 months maximum. The 2003 Labor Law destroyed the investment climate with one of the highest severance payment in the world. A...

Just want to correct this one, it's not 1 year, it's 3 years maximum including one renewal (1+2 or 2+1).

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

I have been told that it is not true that it was scrapped. The rule of thumb is, if it is not mentioned in the Omnibus Law, then the 2003 Labor Law still applies.

DON'T PANIC.... well, maybe a little bit.

Malaysia's PM went on air to declare that Malaysia is experiencing 2nd wave caused by the recent election in Sabah. Perhaps Indonesia need to cancel the coming election to prevent the same from happening.

Indeed, not much improvement in the investment climate, the changes is too little and insignificant.

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

Some employees are just "untrainable", and some are like "Bob", they don't quit. Not necessarily as bad as HappyMan's "Bob", but he was cute as a cat when applying for work, and within a short period, the cat has become a fearsome tiger. During this time of social media, more and more are...

    Omnibus Jobs Bill

If you hire someone and wish to fire him a few months later (but less than a year), you will have to pay severance equivalent to a month's salary. I don't think that's helping in creating employment, it is not fair for businesses and will discourage them from hiring.

If you have time for my question... How to use oximeter? What should be the normal reading? What to do if above or below the normal range? Does it mean you need more oxygen? Does it mean you may have C19?

    Mobil Rakyat...new cars

Some of my experience in Indonesia; Tire Repair Shop over-inflating tires – this happen quite often, your driver brings your car to a tire repair shop because your car’s tire looks under-inflated, a worker pumps air using something with a gauge, the driver returns and you think it’s OK now...

Rules are rules, even if it is ridiculous. Rules are designed to protect everyone, flaunting the rules is not a good example, especially when there are children around. It shows disrespect for others, anyway, that's only my opinion.
