@snpark - thank you for sharing the above.
To all, I am encouraged by your experiences thus far.
There are several things that are still not clear to me, and I hope you can shed some light on them.
Let me mention again that we will fund our spending in Indonesia using US interest, dividends...
@Banana72 - thank you! We have to rule out VOA as our child will need to attend school during our stay in Indonesia.
I think E32E (ITAP) or E32C (KITAS) are our top two options at the moment.
I hear you about the kepo-ness, :), we definitely want to stay under the radar.
BCA is not a must...
@jstar - wow - what a nugget of info. Yes, we are US citizens and our assets are all in US.
Knowing that DJP does not have easy access to gain information to our US assets is reassuring. From what I read, it is not impossible for DJP to get the info - of course, but hopefully for most of us...
@snpark - we thought about it, however our kid will attend school during our four years stay in Indonesia so tourist visa - even if for the parents only to go back and forth are not ideal.
@pantaiema thanks! E32C, yet another visa for us to investigate. We still have families in Indo, have to figure out the guarantor requirements and how burdensome it is for them.
Such a dizzying array of options, not complaining as we are in a position where we are eligible for more options than...
@marcus - thank you, we will look into E28C. As it stands, I am thinking a visa that does not require a lot of investments is preferred, thus we flipped and prefer E32E over E32A even if it means we pay more for the upfront registration fees. This is so that we will have fewer assets to trace...
@harryopal1 thanks! Good to hear that BCA allows it as it has the best atm network in Indo. I presume you do not have the NPWP and BCA never reported you to DGJ?
@Jaime C , The $25k x 2 discussion was for meeting the E32A visa requirement in which we need to invest those amounts in Indonesia. Otherwise, I would not have investing our money in Indonesia bank, :).
I have heard good things about Fidelity. I am with Charles Schwab and they have checking...
I hear you about being honest in Indonesia.
Living more than half of my life in US change me in many ways.
I do not quite follow about your suggestion to get IMTA KITAS and work, how does declaring small income help us with our tax report?
We will have to transfer money from US to local Indo...
Thank you Marcus, that's helpful.
After reading more about E32A and E32E, I agree that E32A seems to be more suitable for our case.
Investing 2 x $25K, is this because both husband and wife must apply E32A? Curious if anyone knows if the husband can apply for E32A while the wife applies for...
Hi everyone,
We are in the planning phase to relocate from the US to Indonesia in 3 years.
Background:
US citizens planning relocation to the Jakarta / Tangerang area.
Ex-WNI (former Indonesian citizens). We grew up in Indonesia, speak the language, and are familiar with the culture.
We plan...
