Sharp has applied for a Halal status with Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) of their fridges (kulkas, from the Dutch ‘koelkast’).
It seems there are parts of a (traditional) fridge that are of animal origin and they obviously should not get in touch with the halal food inside.
I wonder though how far one can take this and what that could mean for all wrapping and packaging material? And what about clothes, furniture and vehicles?
